Our Mission is to work together as a response family to Protect the Entire Family

NASAAEP is committed to planning, preparing, and responding to disasters involving animals and those that support the health and safety of animals. NASAAEP works to provide communication and networking to facilitate information sharing and effective planning at the local, state and federal levels. Our organization focuses on building local capacity (as all disasters begin and end locally) and support mechanisms at the state and national levels.  NASSAEP works with subject matter experts in a variety of fields across the spectrum of emergency planning, preparedness, and operations. NASAAEP works with our partners to record (monthly meetings) and publish (Best Practice Working Group) references, best practices and lessons learned to facilitate access to information.

NASAAEP is a private, 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to  helping those at risk understand how to prepare and respond for disasters on behalf of their animals.

Voting Membership

Our voting membership consists of district/state/territory departments of agriculture or board of animal health emergency planners.  Our non-voting non-governmental members also include State Animal/Agricultural Response (SART), state veterinary medical reserve corps (VMRC), the National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition (NARSC), and other similar state, tribal or territorial programs.

Our Vision

Our vision of empowering caretakers and those involved in preparedness and response to protect animal health and safety complements the efforts of our response partners as they strive to protect human and environment health and safety thereby strengthening the concept of One Health.  The human-animal-environment bond involves us all and NASAAEP is an important voice for animal health and safety.

There are no paid positions within NASAAEP, we often refer to one another as a response family whose members meet, learn, research and train to be prepared to respond to disaster impacts to animals in our communities, states, and nation. We welcome you to join us and bring your experience, expertise, and energy to add to a great response family attempting to accomplish very good things for the animals we care so deeply about.

Whether it be making a small contribution, joining as a member, sponsoring our work, or attending our summit, every bit will enhance the worthwhile work that NASAAEP does.
